An important brief event on 8 October to give your views on what you see as the skills needs of the sector in Scotland
Each year Sector Skills Councils produce reports highlighting the key issues affecting their sector and the skills implications for their employers.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is part of Skills for Care and Development, the Sector Skills Council for people working in the social care sector. It is currently updating its sector skills assessment and requires to determine from employers in Scotland their views on:
o Drivers of skills demand in sector
o Current skills needs of sector
o Future issues which will have an impact on skills needs in sector.

As part of this work the SSSC is holding a brief event for our sector in Glasgow on:
Friday 8 October, 10.30am – 12pm at the Teachers Building, 14 St Enoch Square Glasgow G1 4DB
This event will focus on three areas above (in particular current skills needs) in relation to the care home/care at home/housing support workforce. Your contribution to this event is important. It will significantly contribute to the analysis and to determining the skills required in the future and the supply of training to meet the skills. Ideally, it would be helpful to have employers across all provision, from large and small organisations and from rural as well as urban settings.
Can you please let David Rennie know by Wednesday 29 September if you or a colleague are able to attend. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further please don’t hesitate to contact David. He can be contacted on 07946 607532 and at
