Introduction of final dates for social workers and social service workers to achieve registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
This consultation paper proposed the setting of final dates for achievement of registration with the SSSC for social workers and social service workers through the introduction of the Regulation of Care (Fitness to Employees for Employment in Care Services) (Scotland) Regulations 2008. The legislation applies to full and part time workers, not to volunteers or workers in seasonal services.
The consultation posed four questions relating to grace period for newly qualified social workers to register, the grace period allowed for social service workers to register following entry or re-entry to the sector, how the grace period should be calculated (including or excluding time to process applications), and the final date for existing workers in current phases to be registered.
