With extensive experience in occupational therapy, Edith Macintosh has been appointed Rehabilitation Consultant for the Care Commission.
This post has been established to provide leadership to help and support care homes and day services for older people to improve care in
relation to all aspects of rehabilitation. Edith explained her interest in the position: “The Rehabilitation Consultant post is an extremely
exciting opportunity to drive forward improvements in the care of older people over the next two years.
“I believe this post could make an enormous difference to the quality of practice and care for older people in care homes or using day services.
“By providing support and advice, facilitating improved communication around best practice and providing leadership, I can empower those involved in care to
build on existing developments and innovative ways of working. “My hope is that through working in partnership with service providers,
agencies that commission services and policy makers, older people will be enabled to realise their full potential and live fulfilling lives,” she added.
Edith, originally from Lewis and now living outside Perth, has worked as an occupational therapist for the past 26 years, mainly for the NHS and
for the last seven years as an Occupational Therapy ServiceManager for the Perth and Kinross
