Care First Careers: A Government Scheme to recruit new young staff into care services

The Department for Work and Pensions together with the Department of Health have launched a new initiative, Care First Careers, to help employers get new young care workers into the workplace. Care First Careers is available in Scotland, England and Wales.  It is run through Jobcentre Plus.

£1000 cash plus free pre-employment training when recruiting a new care worker
Many young people are looking for the opportunity to work in adult social care and Jobcentre Plus is ready to help recruit them.

As an incentive to help these young people find employment, a substantial cash sum is being offered for every eligible young person recruited.

Free pre-employment training may also be offered to the young person.

Who's eligible?
To qualify for this money, the new recruit must:

Be aged between 18 and 24
Have been claiming Jobseekers Allowance continuously for six months or more

How it works?
When the candidate first applies for your job, they will let you know they are eligible for this subsidy
Should you recruit them, on their first day of employment, your new recruit will bring a claim form that they have signed
Complete your details on it and return it to us
