Public information bulletin on the development of Scotland’s new scrutiny bodies for 2011

This is one of a series of Public information bulletins about the creation of the new improvement and scrutiny bodies for healthcare and for social work and social care services due to start in April 2011. You can view the bulletin in full by clicking here.

There will be two new Scrutiny bodies Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS) and Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS).

SCSWIS will take on the existing responsibilities of the Care Commission and SWIA, along with responsibility for leading on the inspection of services to protect children and developing a model of inspection for integrated children’s services.

HIS will take on the current responsibilities of NHS QIS and have responsibility for the regulation of independent healthcare (which is currently carried out by the Care Commission).
