Social Services Knowledge Scotland Re - launched October 2010

The learning exchange
The Learning Exchange is IRISS's digital library of learning resources for social services and social work education and training. The resources include information sheets, official publications, interactive learning resources, video clips, case studies and radio broadcasts, all of which may be used for non-commercial, educational purposes.

NHS Scotland e-Library
The NES Knowledge Services Group provides a national strategic and policy framework, leadership, resources and tools to
widen access to knowledge and promote competence in its use, to help to improve Scotlandís health and healthcare.

E-library of Educational Provision for Long Term Conditions
The purpose of the E-library of Educational Provision for Long Term Conditions is to provide practitioners/workers with a tool to aid in their personal development planning, enabling them to find suitable training provision to help them address the growing issue of long term conditions. The database consists of individual modules that professionals can search for and take to compliment and increase their skills and knowledge in the management of long term conditions. The courses included in the database encompass a broad spectrum of topics from different types of organisations, spanning different levels and modes of learning.

 Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services(IRISS)

The mission of IRISS is to promote positive outcomes for the people who use Scotland’s social services by enhancing the capacity and capability of the social services workforce to access and make use of knowledge & research for service innovation & improvement. Click here for their web site

IRISS has developed the Evidence-informed Practice Portal (click here) and the Confidence Through Evidence Toolkit (Click Here) to support staff in finding and using evidence to inform their practice. The portal provides access to a range of key evidence sources, accessible evidence summaries to save you time and updates on new research, publications, news and events. The portal also includes the Confidence through Evidence Toolkit which provides guidance on the process of finding evidence and how staff can assess, adapt and apply it to practice.
